2017 - A Big Year for Dental Artistry

Merry Christmas from Dental Artistry! We hope you have had a great year in 2017 and are planning a relaxing break over the holidays. Our last working day for 2017 is Friday, the 22nd of December and we open for the new year on Monday the 15th of January.

2017 was a big year for Dental Artistry. One of our greatest assets is our wonderful staff who do an amazing job and really care about our patients. Although sadly we had to farewell our lovely Linh to an overseas adventure with her hubby, we have a number of new staff who we are proud to introduce.

You may already have met Ruth who started with us in February of this year. As an Oral Health Therapist, Ruth offers a broad range of treatments. Ruth is qualified to diagnose and treat decay in children 17 years old and under. This is helpful if you have children currently undergoing orthodontic treatment as often we can coordinate both the orthodontic and the decay check appointments to coincide. In addition to this, Ruth is a trained hygienist and orthodontic auxiliary, as well as providing Oral Myology and some TMJ therapies. We have outfitted a new surgery for her to work out of with all of the most up to date equipment.

Dental Artistry has had such a growth spurt that we have asked the fabulous Dr Sarah Cole to come on board. Sarah is an extremely experienced general dentist who has been practising for 35 years. She is passionate about dentistry and can give you the best advice regarding preventative and restorative dentistry.

With the rapid increase in the number of patients that we are catering for, we have needed some help at the front desk. We welcome Angela who has an administration background and is learning the ins and outs of applying that to dentistry. You may have noticed the new uniform that she and Lana are wearing; they both look like angels!

Much of 2017 has also been spent ensuring we are at the top of our game. In addition to ongoing staff training, Heidi has recently graduated having completed a two-year mini-residency in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics. With a perfect 100% for all of her written assignments, you can be sure that Heidi has mastered the very latest orthodontic advances. Keep an eye out for new letters after her name, although you may not see the certificate until we find additional wall space to keep up with her burgeoning qualifications!

Everyone likes new toys at this time of the year and Mark and Heidi are no different. Heidi is the proud owner of an intraoral scanner which scans teeth digitally. This process is a lot more comfortable than having impressions. Although we still take initial impressions to create preop models, in most cases subsequent digital images can be completed with the scanner. This piece of equipment also saves time as we can send images straight to the lab, reducing the number of days you need to wait to get your braces on.

Mark is also pretty excited about his PRF machine (think vampire facials) which enables him to use the patient’s own blood to form bio-compatible membrane to use for bone grafting and implant surgery. This process speeds up the healing process and optimises graft results.

For the education and entertainment of patients we have personalised videos playing on the waiting area to show you many of the treatments that we offer.

Have a great Xmas and summer break and we look forward to meeting up with you again in the new year!
