What is Invisalign?

Invisalign » What is Invisalign?

Launched in 1999, Invisalign consists of very thin, removable, clear plastic aligners that are worn over the teeth and changed by the patient every two weeks. Teeth straighten gradually as the aligners are changed. The aligners are comfortable and contain no metal brackets or wires. They are also removable. Best of all, they are invisible, allowing you to straighten your teeth without your friends and colleagues ever knowing. Invisalign aligners are constructed from precise impressions of your teeth – so your Invisalign aligners are custom-made for you, and you alone.

Not only is Invisalign an aesthetically pleasing clear braces solution, it also produces outstanding results and a beautiful smile through simple, yet effective methods. Invisalign can be used for a variety of orthodontic conditions, including crowded teeth, widely spaced teeth, overbite, crossbite and underbite.  In fact, most orthodontic conditions that can be treated with traditional braces can be treated successfully with Invisalign.

Full treatment using Invisalign aligners usually takes from 6 to 12 months. The patient wears the aligner for 20-22 hours a day, yet can remove the aligner to eat and drink and go through their oral hygiene routine. With Invisalign aligners, you as the wearer replace the aligners approximately every two weeks to slowly realign your teeth. Teeth straighten gradually over a period of months, but even before your treatment has finished, your teeth alignment will improve and you’ll begin to enjoy the benefits of a better smile.

Since its inception Invisalign has become a worldwide brand, boasting various product ranges, which include the original Invisalign aligners, but also Invisalign Express and Invisalign Teen.
