Invisalign » Invisalign Braces
Traditionally, moving teeth via orthodontics has involved several years of treatment and the wearing of unattractive metal braces. Metal braces consist of wires and brackets, which pressure your teeth into alignment. Not only are metal braces noticeable and unsightly, these types of braces cannot be removed until the treatment is completed. Some people find that traditional metal braces can also cause gum and inner-cheek irritations, as well as diminishing oral hygiene, as they can trap food and impair the ability to reach teeth and gums when brushing and flossing your teeth.
Invisalign, however, uses clear braces known as aligners. These removable aligners realign and straighten your teeth. The aligners are almost invisible and can be removed during the treatment. Invisalign aligners are designed with smooth edges, eliminating gum and inner-cheek irritation. Invisalign aligners also engender better oral hygiene as they are able to be removed for tooth brushing and flossing, and do not trap food in them as do metal braces.
Another reason why Invisalign is such a great orthodontic treatment is because each treatment is designed specifically for each individual customer – whether you’re an adult or a teenager. The process involves an integration of x-rays, photographs and plaster models of the patient’s teeth and jaw. These are then used to create a computer-generated 3D image of how your teeth and smile will look after the treatment. This process allows us to look at various outcomes to ensure your teeth are being aligned and straightened in the healthiest and most effective way. This method also allows the customer, prior to starting the treatment, to see how their smile will look once the treatment is completed.
