A beautiful smile is a wonderful asset, but its impact is lessened if it resides in an unattractive face! In addition to creating smiles, movement of the teeth and jaws can also greatly influence facial aesthetics. Most people realize that the midline of the jaws and teeth should match the midline of the face. Less recognized, however, is how the position of the jaws impacts on an aesthetic profile. The ideal profile should be relatively straight, with the forehead and chin balanced. Most orthodontic patients however have a retrusive lower jaw, which is positioned too far back compared to the rest of their face. This makes the face look ill-proportioned; the nose looks big and the chin looks small.

At Dental Artistry we are very aware of how the movement of teeth and jaws can affect facial aesthetics and we employ orthopaedic techniques to correctly position our patients' jaws and thereby create attractive faces.
